Meet Johari

Johari is a 10 year old girl living in Magu Town, Tanzania, Africa.

Our sponsorship allows the staff of AICT Itumbili Student Center to provide Johari with Bible classes, hygiene education, picnics, educational field trips, health screening, sports, uniforms, and educational materials.


Typical houses in Magu Town are constructed of dirt or cement floors, mud or brick walls and tin or thatch roofs. The primary ethnic group is Kisukuma and the most comonly spoken language is Kiswahili.
The regional diet consists of maize, beans, fish, cassava, rice, and potatoes. Common health problems in this area include malaria and diarrhea. Most aduts in Magu Town are unemployed but some work as day laborers or subsistence farmers and earn the equivalent of $12 per month. This community needs schools, vocational training, modern farming technology, teachers, and a water supply.
