Over a hundred families each month are served through these ministries. We  help meet both physical and spiritual needs of those we minister to. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact the GV church office at 822-2173.

The Food Bank, a United Way food bank with volunteer servants for Christ, serves thousands of people each year who have lost jobs, have health issues, fire losses, family breakups and those living in chronic poverty.  USDA guidelines are used to qualify recipients who live in the Hoover related zip code areas of 35226, 35216, 35244, 35243, 35242 and 35022 with funding by a church budget and a designated account. Some ways to help us serve the needy are to donate to our designated account, provide diapers, toilet tissue and other personal hygiene items.

The Clothes Closet works along with the Food Bank to provide clothing for low income families.  This clothing is going to help people in our community so we feel that is important to give clothing that we would not mind wearing ourselves. When donating, please keep in mind these simple guidelines:  All clothing should be clean, in good condition and of current style.  We have all been blessed with so much; sharing our discarded clothing with our neighbors is an easy way to be a blessing to others

The Furniture Hut Ministry is a two-fold operation. It provides a way for us to pick up old or unwanted furniture and then distribute these items to those in need. Others can help by being aware of those in need of discarding items or those in need of receiving items which are unaffordable to them and then contact our church office to arrange a delivery or a pick up.

Weekender's Program, An outgrowth of our food bank, the goal for this school year is to provide healthy snack food for 125 Title I school children at Green Valley Elementary School to insure the children have food on the weekend. This program is funded by grants and administered by the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama and our Food Bank.

The Santa Shoppe, a service ministry of GVBC provides new toys and clothing for children who might otherwise do without. They are referred by the Food Bank, school counselors, and church members. The angel tree helps provide needed items.
